Fuck them. Compromise is dead, alongside thousands of gun victims.

No private citizen NEEDS a gun. More to the point, no private citizen needs a weapon with a magazine. It's simply unnecessary. Hunting is a relic from the past. I don't give a damn if it's something your ancestors did, it is no longer necessary. You can buy all the food you want or need at the store.

I don't own a gun, I don't want a gun, and I don't see the need for any private citizen to own one.

But barring a door-to-door confiscation, I don't see how any more chucklefuck "laws" would do a damn thing to put all the cats back in the bag.

The nuts will be nuts - no way you can reach them. But there are enough people around these people who might think it is a little odd that someone has collected an arsenal and that person might have issues. We all need to step in.
In this state, the legislature caught all kinds of heat passing a bill that would allow law enforcement and loved ones to get a court order to remove weapons from someone's home if they believe that person could cause harm to himself or others. It was vehemently opposed by the NRA and only passed because the GOP senator who sponsored, it because his son who was dealing with PTSD killed himself, provided the deciding vote.

People know where I stand. Significant gun bans would make America much safer, and I would start by, in many-though-not-all scenarios, disarming police. Start there, and I think people would better understand the crisis in front of us.

My guess is that you don't hunt, right? Bambi does not always stand in the middle of the meadow, turned sideways to you, and pose. Most of the deer hunting where I am is in brush country where your shots are not likely to be wide open. Sometimes a quick second shot is the difference between making the kill or not, or a wounded animal escaping into the brush.

Yes, ideally, one well placed shot does the deal... sort of like ideally your drive goes right down the fairway and lands on a smooth spot with an unobstructed line to the green. Does it always?

This would be a much more compelling argument if golf clubs were killing thousands of humans a year in America.

Going to disagree on the hunting part. I don't think you realize how many people still hunt for food in this country. Now do they need something that can shoot hundreds of rounds at a time and need silencers? No.

But does this actually justify you needing an automatic or semiautomatic weapon?

This is an honest question. I'm not a hunter and find it to be an awful excuse of a pastime. But I also don't know enough about it to say one way or the other what an avid hunter needs while hunting.

I actually did a decent amount of hunting in my youth (albeit while accompanying relatives/friends, never independently) and I stand by my statement.

If you need a semi-automatic giving you a rapid succession of shots to kill a deer then you don't deserve the kill. Where's the sport in it if you're just using technology to eliminate your margin of error? Semi-automatic hunting rifles are a crutch enabling unskilled fatasses to pretend to be killer outdoorsmen. Perhaps they oughta be working harder to get a closer shot or improving their shooting skills instead of just buying a fancier rifle.

And I can't help but crack up when I hear hunters spewing your "Bambi doesn't just stand there for you" mularkey. Well, no shit, but it still ain't that hard to get close to a deer nowadays. I mean, jeez, lord only knows how many times I accidentally stumble on them at a range close enough to plunk em in the head with a slingshot--and yeah, often just standing there in the open staring at me--yet you guys act like it's some impressive feat to get close enough to shoot one with a high powered rifle. Yeah, right.

Obviously, you've never tried to control a feral hog population.
