RIP Tom Petty

This just sucks. RIP to one of the greatest.

 

Yeah, "King's Road" is right at the top of the list for me, too.

I don't think so. I'd be lying if I didn't say I was thinking this might be the last big one. We're all on the backside of our sixties. I have a granddaughter now I'd like to see as much as I can. I don't want to spend my life on the road. This tour will take me away for four months. With a little kid, that's a lot of time."

 

One of the lasting memories of my MTV-obsessed adolescence is Petty closing out the MTV Music Awards with a duet of Free Fallin' with Axl Rose.

 

I think he was simultaneously a living legend and underrated. So many great songs.

 

Iconic voice, some great songs, thank you for leaving us with such a legacy.

 

So many big hits, and hard to choose one favorite. But "American Girl" was one of his first, and it always stuck with me.

 

To put it simply: Devastated. My absolute favorite musician.

Picked a horrible day to cover someone's shift at work.

 

I remember they played "The Waiting" over the NBA Finals highlights after the Bulls first title.

 

Always loved his music. RIP.

Jesus, what a catalogue. Had been listening to his Sirius station on the regular with my gf this year, and we had commented that he was one we wanted to see before, well, we didn't. RIP, what a career.
