I'm not saying it's true in every situation and in more than a few situations, restricting hunting would be wiser. But there are instances where hunting is not obsolete.

In my town, not far from metropolitan San Francisco Bay Area, I will regularly see people riding horses on the roads. No sure if that is apropos of anything, but I do.

Doubtful ... casinos are as good at rating you for credit as Capital One. Vegas casinos have a few more tools at their disposal than banks -- the chit you sign is legally a check, so they can have you arrested if you don't pay up -- but they're not getting millions down on somebody they're not sure can pay.

I really have little problem with hunting, except the terminology irks me.

"Little Billy Wretch is shown at Left with the deer he controlled the population of."

I also don't understand the fascination with the antlers.

    Whatever.

Sure, but you don't see people arguing that horse riding (and ownership) should be banned because it's "a relic from the past."

Anyone who drives on just about any highway in NJ realizes that. I see deer on the shoulder pretty much every day. Without hunting there probably would be a lot more.

You did have people arguing the horse carriages in NYC should be banned. DeBlasio was one of them.

    What was his argument?

Now think about how bad the problem has to be to justify the cost to a farmer of buying those, or how big it must be for a business to develop and market them. Feral pigs damage fields and crops, muddy up and pollute watering holes, and can spread disease to livestock. They can also be dangerous as hell. Pigs are smart and they are omnivores.

I agree that if you can't sway the gun crowd when country music fans are killed from a luxury casino hotel, I don't think it's possible to sway them.

But saying you don't care about the victims? What an asshat.

If pigs were that smart, they'd pretend to be cows.
