And folks pounding the "ban all semi-autos" drum will force the hunters who support tightening gun laws into the NRA's arms.

Probably, hell. There are basically no large predators left to control a deer population other than feral dogs and coyotes. Well, automobiles help too, but that is a less than ideal solution. We have the largest deer herd east of the Mississippi. The legal limit for deer here during gun season is one per day, if you're good enough to do it and can figure out what to do with the meat. I've seen full grown deer that were the size of scrawny dogs, and trees browsed bare as high up as a deer on its hind legs can reach.

Hunters are a significant control on the population, and money from hunters provides the budget for the Wildlife Officers in many states.

Agree ... the word "harvest" always fit wrong for me when referring to hunting.

    Friend of a friend:

The past couple weeks there's been a lot of talk about respecting our flag and how to show respect for our country. Now here is where we can truly demonstrate that. Demanding gun control is how we respect our nation and the people in it.

Let's talk about the 30,000+ people who die every year in America from guns. Let's talk about how
right now the Republicans are trying to pass HR 367 to ease access to gun silencers. Let's talk about how one of Trump's first acts in office was to block a rule that would have prevented an estimated 75,000 people with mental disorders from buying guns.

Our public safety remains at risk for ... what? So some guy can stockpile weapons?

The failure to act is not just a tragedy, it is disrespectful to all the innocent people who have shed blood on our soil -- because this is certainly going to happen again and again, and our inaction says their deaths meant nothing.

    We are terrorizing ourselves.

Wait until mountain lions reappear in your neck of the woods (and they will, eventually, it's an amazing recovery story). As cats and backyard dogs go missing, suddenly people will be wanting Game & Fish to open a season on them.

Some people won't. They went years without a bear hunt in NJ. Few years ago they allowed it again, it's usually only one week. The fishing and wild life commission has shown that the population has grown, as has the population of people. Yet, there are still fucktards who always oppose the hunt.

It has taken animals surprisingly little time to learn that the suburbs are their friend, because people won't hunt you there. My neighborhood is admittedly a wooded one, but I've seen many deer, coyote, hawks, etc. in my backyard. Saw two bucks fighting over a doe one November. There was a bear sighting one year about a half-mile away.

I would never go hunting for bear ... too afraid I'd find one.
