That cover photo makes him look like he could be the son of Sally Kellerman.

Incidentally, he missed a coupled of shows in Sacramento about 6 weeks ago. They said laryngitis, but I wonder if that was really it. Remarkably, he came back a week later for the postponed shows. Great guy.
I wasn't a fan in his early years. I just regarded him as another goofy-looking wannabe rocker. Boy, what I wrong. When I finally got into his music, I realized how fantastic is it. Like lots of others performers, I didn't realize just how much great music he produced, song after song after song.
I really liked his 1-hour DJ show on Sirius, Thursday's at 2 p.m. PT. He played whatever he wanted, usually not his songs, and explained why he selected it. He talked about the genesis of that music and his relationship that the particular artist. Enthralling commentary.
He also said about the funniest thing I've ever heard. When commenting Joe Cocker's death, he said, "Everybody in rock 'n' roll hated Joe Cocker ............. because he could sing your songs better than you could."
RIP to a master rocker/performer, Mr. Petty joining Mr. Cocker for a heavenly concert.

Posting "I wil fucking shit down your throat and your family's" while posting from an account titled "dadlivesmatteronelove" is some kind of irony.

    RIP.

Between this and the Vegas shootings, Gainesville Sun's front ought to be interesting Tuesday.

Meh. Still not as strong as Col. Jessup's "I'm gonna rip the eyes out of your head and piss into your dead skull."

Side question: How on earth were the Traveling Wilburys not more of a huge thing?

Obviously I know Roy Orbison died, but I don't think anything from either album charted higher than 50 or so.

"Handle With Care" was pretty good, mostly because of Roy.

Everything else was kind of forgettable, and there was waaaay too much Jeff Lynne considering who else was involved.
