    I agree with you that no one needs a gun except law enforcement. And so instead of our stupid, draconian drug laws, we should outlaw guns and come down really hard on people found in possession of them. Like 10 years for the first offense. Wishful thinking, sure, but outlawing guns of all types is the only way to curb the types of violence we keep seeing.

    My proposition would be to repeal the Second Amendment and replace it with an Amendment that left gun legislation to the states and excepted it from the Commerce Clause so that the federal legislature had no jurisdiction over gun rights.

    I think it's an idea with conservative appeal: People in Alaska, Texas, Idaho, etc., would likely be more confident that their wishes would be respected than even under the current Second Amendment.
