I'm more concerned about the fake news (actual fake news) that seemed to jump on the thing to sow discord, confusion and alarm. This is "Fire" in a crowded theater stuff that should be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible.

You think that fake news should be ... prosecuted?

He doesn't have to make it explicit. It's part of a long-standing cultural campaign to undermine institutions that threaten conservative values.

I heard the police communications replay and the cops on scene were calling it automatic fire. In the heat of the moment were they being politically incorrect?

If you want to write vague laws, giving more power to the federal government, then you better hope you don't get a President -- like Trump maybe -- who will define terms as he chooses, to use the powers you've granted him in ways you'd never imagined.

As if Trump wasn't going to do all of those things regardless of the vagueness of the laws. He's in blatant violation of some pretty clear ones, but there is no will to enforce against him.

The idea that somehow existing norms can restrain an entrenched power dynamic that wants someone like Trump to be their president is absurd and you keep trying it. If the ruling minority party in this country wants Trump, there's not a damn thing rule of law can do to stop them.

To the fullest extent possible ...

Didn't somebody bring this up here or on the thread about the shooting before? I think it was an idea suggested during an episode of The West Wing.

It will make it harder to take so many so quickly, but hey, let's not make life even slightly inconvenient for hunters, right?

No, you weren't right. It was a semi-automatic altered to fire like an automatic. You're trying very hard to hide behind semantics rather than admit you were wrong. The truly fun part is you actually hurt your overall argument, which is a defense of Republicans who oppose gun control legislation, by arguing that the current legislation does not protect us against mass murders like the one in Las Vegas.
