"Get small." Sadly, we know that "the size of a first-grader" isn't small enough.

I'm wondering if "get small" is being interpreted correctly here. Could it be that he's mangling "think local" (or some version thereof)?

That's pretty generous. Fair question to ask, but if that's how he meant it, that's taking tone-deaf to a new level.

"In situations like that, try to stay safe. Get small." I don't see how that could be interpreted as being about legislation.

It's a phrase used in the military, it basically means "get behind something so the person shooting can't see you."

If, after the investigation is complete and the pertinent information is released and it turns out that none of the guns were manufactured as or modified to be an illegal fully automatic weapon, that would be evidence that gun laws do have an effect on what sorts of weapons are used in these sorts of tragedies.

One of the failures in this incident is that devices that increase the firepower of semi automatic guns such as bump stocks are legally obtainable by almost anyone. Severely restricting their possession and sale most likely would make their use in murders as rare as fully automatic firearms.

A lengthy conversation about hog hunting ensues.

And on and on it goes.

There was more, but it's easy to miss things. It's possible some of the conversation was occurring on the Politics thread, too.

I think that YF probably meant that it wasn't a fully automatic weapon, i.e. it was not manufactured and sold that way. But his initial post was somewhat ambiguous: "It's unlikely he used a fully automatic weapon."

No reason for everyone to be #madonline. YF doesn't seem to be spiking the football, although I probably missed a few posts during the feral hog discussion.

Interesting examination by Ben about the phrase "Guns don't kill people, people kill people."

Are you kidding? Someone who's never done a prep gamer made a point? That, although wrong, was technically right?

If that's not reason enough for everyone to be #madonline I don't know what is!

Maybe we can call it a shootfast gun from now on. Then YF and the rest of us can get back to discussing the crazy asshole fucktard who shot up Las Vegas.

I haven't caught up on the whole thread yet, so forgive me if someone else posted something similar, but the problem is, what if you don't get all 6 million to join? What if only 4 million liberals join and they aren't able to take control of the board of directors? Then you've given the NRA an additional half-billion dollars in revenue with which it can spend buying legislators.

I know gun manufacturers are exempt from lawsuits, but I wonder if the makers of the bump stocks would be. I don't know if gun accessory manufacturers are treated the same as gun makers.
