No, but it has held since the 1920's without a serious challenge. It can be done.

These must be amateurs. They haven't even traced it back to George Soros yet - that usually happens within 24 hours.

Who knows how much ammo the guy bought over the course of the same year.

Certainly the extended magazines contributed to the high casualty totals. Those should be relatively easy to ban, even among the feral hog hunters.

If we had any kind of national gun/ammo/registration database, we could curb shootings like this.

But you see how angry it makes people even to float the idea.

Something interesting re second amendment: I think it is the only one that appears to justify its existence in its text. Essentially: "Because guns are vital to the security of freedom, this right exists."
The First Amendment, for example, doesn't say, "Because freedom of thought is paramount, we won't have a theocracy here. " Fourth Amendment doesn't say, "Because humans have the right to be left alone until doing something that prompts suspicion, the government can't just bust your door down for no reason."
I have always found the second amendment intriguing for this reason.

They won't gain traction if traction means legitimacy; they'll just gain social media play.

Then what is the most important goal of government? Tax breaks?

If cops get vocal about it, that will change.

Actually, all that is established is a right to gun ownership in conjunction with a militia.

I'm for the strict interpretation of the second amendment. To obtain a permit one must join their organized state militia (national guard, etc.). Can't make the cut or don't want to? Sorry, that's what the constitution says.
