Yes, I suppose this is true. But "what people will put up with" wasn't exactly what was animating 'em in Philadelphia way back when ...

Was there for the Thursday of March Madness two years ago. I bet I spent $200 on beers/Bloodies that morning. If a feral hog bought me a drink, it was a drop in the bucket!

I can focus on multiple things. Is that beyond your capacity? You relentlessly carrying his water and you actually think somebody else is focused on the wrong things?

I heard a radio report about this asshole today and nearly drove off the road when the reporter said something like, "He bought 33 guns in the last year, but there were no warning signs..." APART FROM THE FACT THAT HE BOUGHT DOZNES OF GUNS IN A YEAR.

Some things of interest in this story. He paid cash for the Mesquite, Nev. house, over $300k. He had been dabbling in real estate ever since he was a postman, and sold an apartment that he, his ex-wife and family invested in for $3.2 million.

I saw where the Sheriff said that he intended to escape, but given that he had done all the prep and checked into a hotel where he was well known under his own name, I don't have a clue how he thought he could do so. He had money and owned a plane, but the search was going to be intense as any since OBL.

Ok, not going down the rabbit hole here, I swear ... but when they say he "paid cash," do they mean he flopped out stacks of $100 bills? Or did he just hand 'em a cashier's check? Because both of those are "cash" transactions ... and the latter isn't unusual at all.
