Is there a crowd that will go see the new Death Wish? I saw that trailer. I an concerned for that crowd.

 

So apparently there was nothing nefarious as all about Mr. Paddock. He was a deft real estate investor who lived fairly modestly until he became rich and then started gambling. He was a big time introvert possibly with autistic tendencies.

I like all the "possibly" theories I've seen tossed out about this guy. In various places (some of admittedly dubious origins), I've seen possibly had huge gambling debts, possibly had a secret criminal double life, possibly had early onset dementia, possibly was an Antifa leftist, possibly was a right wing fanatic, I've even seen possibly was brainwashed by ISIS, and yes, now I guess we're trying out possibly had autism.

Problem is NONE of the possibly's ever get proven true. But we'll all keep guessin, because it makes no sense whatsoever that the worst mass shooting in our history would be so utterly lacking an answer on the question of motive.

 

I tailgated with friends and then watched my UAB Blazers squeak out a one point win by blocking a point blank field goal with three seconds left. The kicker grabbed the loose football and tried to head for the end zone, and the same guy who blocked it tackled him. It was indeed a terrific day.

OTOH, Hurricane Nate is supposed to pass just west of here at 7 in the morning, so we're on the dirty side. I guess "terrific weekend" is still a bit up in the air.

The two guys that Coach Clark put in the middle are 6'8" and 6'9". Smart coach.

 

I loved watching the kicker on that. He gets the deflection and is like, "Oh yeah. Still gonna be the hero!"
Then he realizes he's 20 yards from the end zone, there's three linebackers chasing him who run the 40 a full second faster than he does, and he turtles up like, "... or maybe not."
It's like the character in a horror movie who runs from the monster and thinks they'll get away only to encounter a dead end.

 

That's a huge crowd...

 

What you can't get from that video is what a heart in the mouth moment it was. UAB's kicker doinked the extra point on the first touchdown and missed two FG's. It was 16-10 UAB at the half. We scored again in the fourth quarter but the drive we needed to kill the clock stalled. La Tech scored to make it 23-22... and missed the extra point. We got the ball back with about two minutes deep in our end and they smothered us. They got the ball in great field position, drove it, then ran up the middle to center the ball inside the fifteen and ran the clock down to :03.

That's when that play happened.

We're 3-2, halfway to bowl eligibility, and have Charlotte, UTEP, and Rice ahead, and they are a combined 1-14.

Vegas had our season wins at 2.5, and I told you it was money in the bank...

 

I'm surprised there's still a program.

 

There were probably more people watching at NC's house.
