On the other hand, Heels just took a commitment from Player-12, as he is known in the indictment. I don't remember his name. Seriously. He's Player-12 to me. Why would a top prospect commit there if the hammer was imminent? And, why would UNC stay involved with a player whose eligibility might be called into question? Whole thing is nuts.

It's this guy, and I asked a similar question upthread.

Nassir Little, Orlando Christian Prep, Small Forward

How would a prospect know that? He only hears what North Carolina tells him, and what other coaches tell him about North Carolina.

How binding (on either party) is a commitment?

Because they lied their asses off to him? Because they figure nothing short of a kryptonite tipped stake through the heart will really hurt them?

That's crazy, and it will be interesting to watch develop. I share the general skepticism that the NCAA will do much to a cash cow, but coming so close on the heels of the FBI sting, maybe... but no more than a maybe.

    Wow.

Because, North Carolina. The NCAA shows once again that it's a fucking joke.

    Another case of disincentivising whistleblowers.

Didn't at least one tutor / advisor come out and say papers were being systematically written by others?

And the whole Studies program was pretty much 100% of a sham? No attendance required?

By NCAA logic, Louisville would have been fine providing prostitutes and money to players, so long as they hooked up a couple random non-athlete students too.
