I wish every declaration of war came with an automatic tax hike - maybe it's the charge on a phone bill (that we're still paying from the Spanish-American War) or a straight 1 percent hike on a gas tax. Every war I've seen in my lifetime has been sold with a "it will pay for itself" and they never ever do. You have the military budgets, the increased care of veterans and the inevitable rebuilding. I'm not an anti-war person (it's a two way street, it isn't like ISIS would stop if we stopped contributing military to the war in the Middle East), but there should be a cost that everyone acknowledges before a decision is made.

 

Fine. Draft only them, and crank up their taxes to pay for it.

 

I’ve been noting this here for a while - people are actively rooting for nuclear war because they think it would add to their superhero beauty pageant mogul’s legend as a tough talker.
