Lena Dunham reveals she was raped by a Republican!

    Why doubt it?

"Reveals" has been intentionally selected to establish the truth of Reese Witherspoon's allegation, in the universe of the story, as an established fact.

"The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa."

    Why doubt it?

    Understood.
I I agree with you on this.

    It doesn't matter, Dick.

In the absence of an actual accusation, "reveal" seems OK.

In fact, can you even use the word 'accusation' in the absence of a specific accused.

    Interesting.

As I said, imprecise in this instance without being incorrect.

Wow, those Brits are really lagging behind on that one.
Hey, Harry Potter, you're about 14 years too late!

    It is, potentially, incorrect.

What Witherspoon revealed was "that she was sexually assaulted."

But we don't know that she was sexually assaulted. We know that she said she was sexually assaulted.

    What if she's lying?

What if Lena Dunham was lying? (She was.)

Would Reese Witherspoon lie about this? I don't think so. But unless you know the truth with 100 percent certainty, "revealed" is the wrong word.

I don't even know why there's an argument about this.
