I don't know that the pulse of Alabama and Arizona have ever been indicative of the nation at large

It doesn't need to be. One of their tricks is to keep dividing and conquering the small battles until they accumulate power that far exceeds their numbers. Sort of like how Donald Trump is president despite the majority of the country not wanting it to happen.

    Update:
We are back down to three people recommending this thread for facebook. It had been four for several weeks.
Somebody finally realized the fat-fingered error of their ways.

There is a 1 million percent chance that someone in the next week, probably Gingrich, will argue that Nixon was just doing opposition research too so why was he demonized?

Here's a concept: If you want to cut taxes for the middle classes, then cut their tax rate, and leave the top tax rate alone. The middle class actually benefits, while the rich, who are more than well enough off as it is, simply maintain the status quo that's enabled the richest 1% to control a disproportionate amount of our country's wealth.
Or lower the payroll tax to 4%, but make it apply to the first $500,000 of taxable income.

House Ways and Means chairman Brady says Republicans are still looking at cutting the cap for 401(k) plans, even though Trump tweeted he's against it. This shows two things. 1. Congressional Republicans think Trump will sign anything because he understands nothing. 2. They also think they're bulletproof. They can do anything they want to significant segments of their own voters and as long as they're loud enough in their all-around bigotry, said voters won't care.

Why is that an issue in the story? Do we know who did the previous work, before Steele?
