He was a Trump campaign foreign policy adviser who spent much of his time trying to arrange a meeting between Trump and Putin. So in addition to lying to the FBI, he wasn't a very smart adviser.

 

Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it’s enemy action.

The guilty plea, which came on Oct. 5, is also a strong indication that Papadopoulos has been and might still be spilling his guts to the special counsel's office. Since he pleaded guilty to lying about contacts with Russia during the campaign, this is highly suggestive.

(I'm not saying Trump is going down or will be touched by this at all. In fact, I'm pretty sure he could declare himself part of the Russian government at this point and the GOP would squirt him with a spray bottle of tap water and tell him to be a better boy next time.)
