I have no problem with Gabriel choosing to save Gregory. That was in character. Letting him run for the truck and leave, however, was so stupid that it ruins the makes the scene unbelievable.

The rest of Gabriel's actions were handled well. His interactions with Rick made sense for the character, as did his decision to help Gregory. Failing to blow Negan away when he had the chance also seems to be in character. But that one bit really bugs me.

Or, as the last scene of the series....

Suddenly, every last one of those logic gaps made sense.

Yes, it's the kind of plot development that would make sense if anyone cared if Gabriel lived or dead. I cheered when Gregory stole the car. Idiot got what he deserved.

However, the show did redeem itself a bit when Rick essentially said "fuck it" rather than going back for Gabriel.

Maybe I was brain-dead from Game 5 of the World Series, but the last episode didn't do much for me.

Lots of fighting. Not much story. I also was only halfway paying attention.

Seems like a real effort to make it much more upbeat after everything last season was a downer.

Maybe, but they set up for more downers by the end of the episode.

I'm thinking that when you live in a world populated by zombies, pretty much every day is going to be a downer.

This show is just so frustrating and confounding.
It's as if the show creators do not want to allow anything interesting to unfold.

I wonder how many episodes this war will carry on—eight? The entire season?

RIP, Shiva. I guess it's also "Never bring a cat to a zombie fight."

Is it wrong that I’m more pissed about a CGI tiger dying than fake characters?
