Had fourth-row seats to Kris Kristofferson last week. His voice isn't great, but he put on a pretty solid two-hour show, with one 15-minute intermission. It was just him and his guitar, and a harmonica on the first couple of songs. He didn't do a lot of talking, and the crowd was kind of subdued, since it was an older bunch of folks. (Subdued, expect for the drunk guy behind us who would stop screaming.) But it was good to hear Kristofferson sing some of my all-time favorite songs that he wrote: Me and Bobby McGee, Help Me Make It Through the Night, Sunday Morning Coming Down.

Low Cut Connie on Friday night.

This band doesn't have a bad song. Front-man Adam Weiner plays a piano most of the time, and he really plays it. He stands on it, stands on his seat and raises one foot while playing, kneels before it while playing, plays with his feet, jumps out into the crowd. He's simply full of energy and really energizes the crowd.

If you like rock and roll and they come near you, run don't walk to the show.

Saw Guided by Voices in small club (<200 people?) the other night. Great show. Impressed by Pollard’s energy. Didn’t go on until 9:30 and he still managed to sing, dance, and drink Miller Lite for over two hours—which for GBV is like 50 songs.

Saw Paul Weller's last US show on this tour; Friday night at the Wiltern. It was about my 10th Weller gig, and it was my favorite for several reasons, including that he was in great form. His voice was fantastic, and it's clear he was really enjoying himself. It's awesome to see/hear rock and roll played by guys who are world-class.

Saw the incredible Mandolin Orange at the 40 Watt two weeks ago. They were a folky delight.

Got tickets for the Foo Fighters in Toronto next July at the dreaded Rogers Centre, the city's worst concert venue

Quick question for our Canadian friends: Is every arena in your country named "Rogers"? Sure seems like it.

Rogers owns everything Bell and Irving don't own.

I had tickets for them in Memphis last week and they postponed the show until May because of a "family emergency."
Definitely bummed. Not just for the Foo Fighters, either. They have The Struts opening for them on the current leg of the tour and I really wanted to see them. I'm guessing they'll have a different opening act for the rescheduled show, which as tacked onto the second portion of the tour.

I don't watch a lot of live TV anymore (DVR and streaming mostly) - so I'm wondering - is there a "Fandango-like" site that lists concerts/performance coming to your area in the future and ticket on-sale dates? Most of the time when I hear about a concert I'd want to attend, it's sold out and I only hear about a few days before.
