I was thinking more about the Paris hardliners' insistence on the decimation of the German economy as payment for war guilt, but this works too. Might sound as silly as attributing the Civil War to a "lack of compromise," but, then, that was the original point. This country spent 30 years compromising on slavery to avoid war. Shoot, there already had been a war in Kansas.
