I'm guessing "Who has abused and harrassed you?" is about to become the new "Who are you wearing?" on red carpet shows.

Say one thing for Dems - since Bill Clinton, they've adopted a zero-tolerance to sex scandals. I can't think of an elected Dem who has survived a sex scandal since. McGrevey, Spitzer, Weiner, Condit, Edwards, Massa, Wu, Mahony.
About the only name I can think still a viable name out there is Calif. Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsome who admitted an affair with a subordinate's wife.

    Assault vs harassment.

Semantics. The bottom line is what is "wrong", not socially acceptable any longer (nor should it have been in the past).

I realize there are legal meanings between assault vs. harassment.

I also get that there are narratives. Cause and effect plays both ways regarding public opinion and journalism. The two are integral parts of one another, and integral parts to what makes the country great.

I'm not sure it's strictly semantics.

I'd be comfortable cataloging verbal misconduct under the heading of "harassment." Likewise workplace behaviors like unwanted flirting, etc.

I suppose I'd reserve "assault" for anything physical. Or the threat of something physical.

This is where I am, too. My exact definition of harassment and assault. With rape its own category—to distinguish it from groping, say, which I would call sexual assault. I don't think either is acceptable, obviously, but I think there's a difference between a groper and a rapist. Maybe I'm wrong to think that and I stand to be corrected. But I have had my junk grabbed when I neither expected or wanted it to be grabbed (each time by women), and I wouldn't say I've been raped.

Someone should start a thread about how language has devolved in the pursuit of the liberal agenda.

Someone should start a thread about how conservatives think it's fine to elect a hypocrite pedophile to the Senate if only because he's not liberal.
