Only because "For He's A Jolly Good Fellow" seems to have gone out of vogue. Sure was a staple of my 60s sitcom watching, though.

 

That’s what happens when a song is in the public domain!

 

Throw in a vote for "On the Road Again" and "The Heat Is On", two song titles that show up in headlines way, way, way too much.

 

No one's mentioned a jazz tune so I'll try one - Autumn Leaves. (At least it's my favourite/favorite).

EDIT: I forgot Take Five

 

This thread is driving me nuts. Shouldn't it be "best-known?"

 

Jazz? Hmmm, "Take the 'A' Train", maybe? "Don't Get Around Much Anymore"? "Blue Skies"? "Take Five" is a pretty good call

 

There are a couple songs on here that I've never knowingly heard. Maybe the tune would jog some recognition, but I clearly am lacking in the alternative and punk categories.

 

Metal: Crazy Train.

Disco: I Will Survive. Hell, even Cake covered it.

 

Country Roads .. Never been ANY bar anywhere in the world where the crowd didn't sing along.
