Pass the cranberry sauce, we’re having mashed potatoes!

    Maybe not a food that is going to excite a lot of people. ... but roasted cauliflower with a little salt, olive oil, lemon juice and minced garlic (and you can sprinkle some grated parmesan cheese on it) is a good way to prepare it.

    Cauliflower pizza crust is a thing, too, and I'm like no way.

    My daughter wants to make Cauliflower/Potato soup for Thanksgiving. She swears it is amazing. I told her to leave the Cauliflower out of mine

    She'll also try to put Brussels sprouts into something and I'd rather die than eat Brussels sprouts. Not sure when they became a thing but ugh.

    I agree with you on the cauliflower and pizza thing. If you are going to eat pizza, eat pizza. Just do a good pizza dough.

    Disagree on brussels sprouts (or, "those little belgian cabbages" as I call them when I do my exaggerated frenchie accent). We roast them with olive oil and salt and keep them in the fridge. I can eat those things endlessly.

    Mashed cauliflower with Italian dressing seasoning is delightful.

    Try this healthful recipe. Steam or microwave brussels sprouts until they're about two-thirds done. Then finish them in a frying pan using bacon fat. Delicious.

    Someone suggested something similar - said they taste like bacon. So I'll just eat the bacon.

    My daughter-in-law tried embedding some in an otherwise delicious pasta salad. They thought I wouldn't notice. My kids have simple goals: trick me into eating Brussels sprouts.

    My son also has a recipe where he makes a bacon, chili and maple sauce for the sprouts. That's good, too. Is it the texture you don't like? I think their flavor is pretty neutral myself.
    PS: My son's sauce also works on vegetables you probably do like.

    I'd probably eat mashed cauliflower if it was mixed with a healthy portion of bacon or bacon fat.

    Brussels sprouts are good.

    This is kind of Thanksgivingy. ... brussels sprouts pair up with chestnuts well, too. There are a variety of good ways you can do it. Sage also goes well with that.

    Sprouts get a bad rap, but I also quite like them. Toss a pound of them in a tablespoon of olive oil or canola oil, season how you'd like with salt, pepper, garlic, etc. Roast 'em until they get nice and crispy.

    For cauliflower, my girlfriend and I usually do this 'burger' or cake preparation. Cook the cauliflower as normal, then mash and mix in an egg, flour, a bit of cheese and whatever spices you want. (We typically do chopped garlic, lemon zest and scallions / green onions.) Then, pan fry in a tablespoon or two of canola oil. It gets a nice crust on it.

    Gorgonzola cheese sauce or reduced balsamic are both good on b. sprouts.
