If November 2017 causes us as a society to re-think what qualifies a person to represent us at all levels of government (i.e., something other than "name recognition" and "money,") this will be a major step forward for our democracy.

How is it gaslighting? Wouldn’t two people almost certainly have different memories of a 12-year-old event? He apologized for that and for the photo (which was pretty clearly an attempt at humor).

Gaslighting would be trying to put the blame on Tweeden. I don’t see that.

By saying he doesn't remember it the same way, isn't he calling her a liar?

He didn't say, "I don't remember this scene or rehearsal." He said he remembered it differently.

That's a bridge too far. She (or he) may be misremembering it. They may have interpreted the same events differently, even at the time.

You've always been way too quick to play the "L" card.

    Yes.

Memories of the same event almost always are different. He isn't saying she is lying. He is saying he doesn't remember it that way. That's a completely logical statement and most likely factually true.

"Differently" might mean they disagree on what time the rehearsal was, or what color shirt he was wearing.

Having a different memory of whether or not he shoved his tongue down her throat is hard to believe.

Your broad definition of "lie," well-established prior to this, is so stipulated.

You are responding to an imaginary post. (Beat ya, Dick!)

There is all manner of things that could constitute a different memory in Tweeden's recollection versus Franken's.

You're playing this for effect now.

    Exactly.

Also, gaslighting is meant to muddy the waters as to what's "true." He's absolutely doing that, on purpose.
