Not giving a deduction for paying state and local taxes is counter to the whole basis of an income tax.

Income is $$ that you have to spend, if the state and local governments are taking taxes, then you should not pay taxes on those expenditures because you have less to spend.

 

On what earthly grounds should Menendez resign? Because he was indicted but not convicted? He's up for re-election in 2018. If the voters of New Jersey think he should be bounced (and there's polling evidence they do), then they can do so in about seven months in the Democratic primary or next November in the general election.

 

Perhaps he should resign for sticking his tongue down her throat but not for telling bad jokes. He was a comedian. If he told edgy jokes 20 plus years ago it has nothing to do with the job he has today. This is getting ridiculous.

 

He shouldn't resign for the joke. The joke just causes embarrassment in light of his actions. Which were atrocious.

 

So there should be no state sales tax?
