If you're going to make kids go to college, two years makes sense. That would eliminate the Kentucky issue of players mailing it in from the get-go because they're going pro in the spring of their freshman year.

    Yeah.

I also want to believe it will cut down on the six-figure payments under the table. Those are the guys who will be going to the draft.

I know that was a flawed comparison. I spent enough time on C-USA boards while Johnson was there that I have a very good idea what Southern Miss went through with him. We had Neal Callaway. I have a lot of empathy on that front.

My point was that Kennedy, while he isn't going to be mistaken for a HoF coach, has won consistently, and won more than anyone else they've ever had. We're talking about Ole Miss basketball here. It's not like they are a once proud basketball power whose legacy AK is squandering. Unless they choose to emphasize and put money into the program to a degree that they have no history of, it's not a sure bet that whoever they hire to replace him does any better. It's the kind of a job that a young coach takes for the money and experience on the way up (or where their formerly promising start goes to die) or is taken by a coach with something of a name on the way back down, and both of them take it more for SEC money than because they expect to win the SEC West.

No, it was a pretty good comparison, but there were some key differences. Ole Miss actually did sink some money into the hoops program, building what I am told is a very nice arena to replace the old Tad Pad, and I don't think it gets built if Kennedy hadn't had some consistent success, at least by their standards. People actually care about and take seriously Ole Miss basketball now, which was not the case before he got there.

12 minutes gone in the second half and VCU has not yet fouled UVA. Must be playing perfect defense.

I kinda think any team with a good home court advantage should press at home. The foul numbers (and win-loss records) home and away for VCU and West Virginia are striking.

They play that style knowing refs just aren't going to call fouls anywhere close to the rate they are committed in those environments.

Would I be a dick to point out the highlight of the Porter era was an exhibition loss?
