Chip got me thinking.....( I hate it when that happens)
You and 5 other sports figures at a table for dinner.
    Who do you invite?

    My list would be....

    Lee Trevino
    George Brett
    Bob Uecker
    Gary McCord
    Mike Leach

    Brent Musburger
    Bill Rafferty
    Al Michaels
    John McEnroe
    Chuck Klosterman (Does he count?)

I like to ask a similar question to candidates during job interviews (not sports specific), although others think it's lame...

Saw some dead people on those lists. ... If I did a dead people list, I'd bring back (for one meal)

    Muhammad Ali
    Jesse Owens
    Shoeless Joe Jackson
    Roberto Clemente
    Knute Rockne
    Steve Prefontaine
Note: I like the Marvin Miller pick a lot, cran, but I saw it from you while I was doing my list.

If I have to pick people still alive:

    Michael Jordan
    Martina Navratilova
    John McEnroe
    Ken Dryden
    Tom Brady

My ground rules for my guests. Absolute truth is required, you are to show up (whether living or dead) at your "peak level" of alertness. No "ugh - that's far back can't remember...stuff"
Please be pleasant, forthcoming and funny.
(I felt bad when I didn't include a woman at first, but Billie Jean King was an easy choice. I think we know so much about athletes today (too much usually), but I have to think many of my guests really couldn't talk about how they honestly felt due to sponsors, TV deals and other sensitivities.)
    My topics for both groups.
How have changes off the field in society impacted things on the field? And what has sports help change off the field?
How have the press and other media entities impacted your life and affected people's perception of you. Do you feel trapped by this perception?
What is the public's biggest misperception about you?
What do you like about the changes in your sport or sports since you began and now. What do you think is dumb.
