I gotta say, finding out almost every successful man in the world is a misogynistic, creepy, molesting monster makes me feel better about my boring, unsuccessful, unremarkable self.

In my doctoral program I became good friends with a fellow student, my father’s age, who’d had a very, very successful career in business (i.e., Chair and CEO of a Fortune 500 company for a time, followed by a very lucrative turn as owner of one of that company’s divisions he’d taken private and then later public).

Married to his 4th-grade sweetheart. Father of two very nice, down-to-earth sons. Fired a division VP when he found out the guy was fucking around (“If his wife can’t trust him, why should I?”) A generous benefactor to all sorts of endeavors. (A Democrat, too.)

I know there’s some truth to the stereotype. But there are a lot of very nice very successful people, too.

I haven't followed that story all that closely, but I know I saw a tweet where there was an allegation he used the Capitol police to threaten her to keep quiet. That's definitely news.

She was threatening to circulate revenge porn. Who was he supposed to call? Ann Landers?

In that vein, it doesn't for me. Because for many, our entire gender is branded as misogynists, whether individuals are or not.

As you were telling the story, I kept waiting for you to get to his downfall. Glad that wasn’t the story.

I can only hope to generate a 50-page SJ.com post someday.

Me too. I was waiting for the punchline, something like "...and then we discovered he was a puppy-molester..."

But instead it just ended. Wait ..that's it? Like he actually is a good person? Boring.....

Just interested in seeing how many holes he plays. That's all. ;)

But doesn't it call for a little introspection if you're waiting for the wheels to fall off and you get to nod your head and tell everyone, "See? See?" (Speaking more in the general, BT, not you specifically.)

That's what I'm tired of. I've been hearing it for 10 years, and I've decided I can separate the art from the artist. I just want him back in the game, playing well. And I'll be disappointed if it all falls apart again. That's part of being a fan, I suppose.

I don't believe she was the one making the threats actually.

Wasn’t it? (Honest question to make sure we’re on the same page here.)

Rep. Joe Barton (R-Tex.), who apologized Wednesday for a lewd photo of him that circulated on the Internet, told a woman to whom he had sent sexually explicit photos, videos and messages that he would report her to the Capitol Police because she could expose his behavior, according to a recording reviewed by The Washington Post.

Congressman on tape tells woman he would report her to Capitol Police because she could expose his secret sex life
