U2: Overrated?

I enjoy a good melody and a catchy tune--although often songs with those qualities actually aren't that "clean," production-wise--but U2 is just so unbelievably bland.

 

I've got friends who think U2 is the be-all and end-all of music.

They have bad taste in lots of things, not just music.

Oh my God, the fucking hot takes on this thread.

U2 is a great band. Their fastball isn't what it once was, but they've been around for 40 years so I'll cut them some slack.

The new album is hit or miss for me, but the high points are pretty damn good.

"Songs of Innocence" was a great album. It got drowned out by the "how dare they give it away for free!!" bullshit, but it was a hell of an album.

 

What do you think of Dave Matthews?

Is that the album that showed up on my phone when I didn't want it and I can't get rid of it?

 

The free album that can be removed in about 10 seconds? Yeah, that one.

 

But irony is the new fake news, so where does that leave us?
