The Johnson impeachment was a very murky legal matter, and a clear-cut political one. I believe had it not been the last year of his term, with everyone knowing Grant would be the next President, at least one of the seven Republican Senators who voted to acquit would have gone the other way.
PS: The Clinton impeachment was clear cut both legally and politically. Of course he lied under oath, but a decisive majority of the country did not believe the matter warranted his removal from office. So he wasn't removed.

Yep. Impeachment at its core is a political act.

Just a reminder that the current President of the United States called neo-Nazis "very fine people."

No, no, he said the people marching alongside and intermingled with the white supremacists - but not necessarily actual neo-Nazis - were "very fine people." Basically, the very fine people were the ones who weren't wearing swastikas and only carrying battle flags.

In this case, the President used his words to praise neo-Nazis.
