    You didn't include 2112? Surprising.

So far the new album sounds awful.

“This is not a place/It is a dream the whole world holds.”

That’s the same lyricist who wrote “Where the Streets Have No Name,” also about America?

Might be time to hang it up, as far as new stuff goes.

This was probably the last time I liked U2, when I was in a really low place circa '98 and living by candlelight in a shack behind Dunkin Donuts.

This came on the radio all the time and always provided a glimmer of hope.

I think U2 are properly rated. Brilliant from the start, lost it a bit in the middle, and recaptured it later.

They got caught up in the indie dance-rock craze that swept the UK in the early 1990s (while America was still in its hair-metal captivity) and "Achtung Baby" was the product of that. (Think of all the rock acts that put out disco records in the late '70s.) The Zoo phase lasted for the rest of the decade, then they finally returned to form in the summer of 2000 with "Beautiful Day."

An add to the three album list:

The Replacements -- Let It Be, Tim, Pleased to Meet Me

Probably because I was a metal kid, I couldn't stand The Doors kids in high school. They'd all try to impersonate Jim Morrison with their hands in their pockets and their stupid walks. I can still picture this asshole Rich walking down the hall, trying to affect Morrison's cool but looking like he was recovering from a stroke. Of course, I can also picture him walking that same walk into the trees with Alison, the hottest girl in school, so that he could bang her. THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY RAGE.

PS: The Doors was also the only movie I'd ever walked out of until Mother.

PPS: This is nothing personal. When someone likes Rush, that's personal.

    How about 7-record runs ...

    * Oasis (Definitely Maybe, Morning Glory, Be Here Now, Standing on the Shoulders of Giants, Heathen Chemistry, Don't Believe the Truth, Dig Out Your Soul)

Metal fans could argue that Iron Maiden's first six (!) albums are all classics.

Iron Maiden—Killers—The Number of the Beast—Piece of Mind—Powerslave—Somewhere in Time.

That's all between 1980 and 1986. Quite a run to open your career.

Those guys are lucky they ever got to perform with Morrison.

Great song, originally a B-side, and not included on an album.

Manzarek was the only part of that band that didn't blow ass.
