I reject the premise that Diet Coke is unhealthy.

Two people fighting in the stands at a baseball game face more scrutiny today than they did in 1934, too.

    Everybody faces more scrutiny everywhere.

What if we posit that it tastes like caramelized ass?

I'm so confused as to why this story is even bothersome, then. Because of what you presume other highly-educated liberals will think about it?

Again, Big Macs and Fish Sandwiches is not in this piece. That's in his campaign manager's book.

"Donald Trump is an unsophisticated oaf unworthy of our borough" has been a Manhattan meme for 40 years.

We're pretennding that the New York Times has not internalized some of that?

FDR's wheelchair use was reported. He asked photographers not so use shots of him at public events in it, and many (not all!) complied, especially during WW2, but it was known he had polio and known he was disabled by the disease. The "covered up the wheelchair" thing is just another pathetic fairy tale for the paranoid right that YF so ably represents here.

The Obama story mentioned he likes to watch ESPN and play Words with Friends. What inferences can we draw from that and pretend to be offended?

I have even read that Obama -- GASP! -- snuck in an occasional cigarette. The horror.

I guess if we infer he watched Around the Horn that'd be a blot on his good name.

Obviously his campaign manager was virtue signaling to liberal readers of his book and trying to portray Trump as a rube. Duh.

Back in the late 1950s, during the height of the Red Scare, there was ONE American government official who made sense and whom nobody listened to. His point was basically the same. "No one who goes over there and sees how stuff works --- or doesn't work --- could possibly believe they have some technological advantage or are something to fear."

    Rinse, repeat.

Goddammit, can't anybody in this country get this quote right? He said it was "ONE OF the greatest political catastrophes of the 20th century." ONE OF. ONE OF. ONE OF.

    I'm neither pretending nor offended.

There is an enormous foodie culture among elites right now, and particularly among elite liberals. It's why so many snobby members of the Twitterati have zeroed in on these particular details.
