Devastated Roy Moore Consoles Himself by Heading to Mall

GADSDEN, ALABAMA (The Borowitz Report)—Moments after his stunning defeat in Alabama’s special U.S. Senate election, the Republican candidate, Roy Moore, told reporters that he was planning to cheer himself up by “heading to the mall.”

In Washington, one of Moore’s staunchest supporters, Donald J. Trump, excoriated the voters of Alabama for their decision. “It’s a sad day for America when people believe women,” he said.

Fun with numbers ... Assuming those vote-by-race-by-sex numbers are accurate, if you randomly sampled a voter from yesterday’s election, you’d be slightly more likely to wind up with a white man who was a write-in than a black man who voted for Moore. You’d be fourteen times more likely to wind up with a white man who voted for Jones than a black guy who voted for Moore.

Big picture, same as Clinton in '92. But there was never a dramatic moment of a real election where we went into the day expecting X and got Y.

I think that's right, but the closest thing to it was the Iowa caucus win by Obama. Iowa being as white as it is, that showed he could compete with Clinton nationwide.

She was a semi-famous African-American, who supported Trump, and who actually had some government experience.

I don’t see the problem with giving her some no portfolio job.
