Bannon would rather torch the GOP and everything in it, than be thought of as insignificant. Trump wasn't an ally - he was a pathway to power and influence. If Bannon has neither, he would take great satisfaction in causing as much turmoil as possible.

 

Bannon knows how dense this guy is, and Bannon also knows he has the trust of the donor class.

I thought I read Bannon was connected to a super PAC that was funded by big wheels other than the Mercers.
At some point this becomes about return on investment. Bannon seems to understand that implicitly.
Despite what has happened he is still the smart one in this group.
You have to be pretty smart to get a radioactive candidate within steps of the Capitol building.
