You can get a great Reuben sandwich at Katz Delicatessen in NYC...

The price isn't as good as it used to be. I hated standing in line behind people who seem to be contemplating a wedding ring purchase when they have already spent 10 minutes in line staring at the menu board. And the local Subway doesn't allow you free refills on coffee, they use those one-shot Keurig things.

I just looked at their website.
Just how big is one of their Reubens?
If I'm paying $24 for a Reuben, it better be the size of my head.

Have to say I was impressed by the Subway visit I made last week. Went to the drive thru, which was a huge touchscreen where you hit all the options for the sandwich, then the order button, and drive to the window.

Much quicker and easier than getting the 20 questions at the counter.

Still not worth the 8 bucks for a footlong, but the process didn't make me want to eat a bullet. Small victories.

Chef2: Don't know what hat size you wear, but the Reuben sandwich at Katz is a meal by itself.

I love Ruebens, the sauerkraut is key. Toasted rye is just about perfect.

Anyone ever had a Monte Cristo? Now that's a heart attack in waiting.

Those are ridiculously good. Along those lines, I had a croque monsieur (with the addition of sliced poached pears) in Minneapolis in April that was one of the best GD things I’ve ever eaten.

I would think the growth of those two had to hurt Subway.
