Yet, this isn't like converting an outfielder to a first baseman, or, worse, a full-time DH to get a few more years out of his bat. One would think knowing trial law would be a preresquite to being a judge.

But, oh yeah, the best people.

I understand and agree with this, certainly. I'm just pushing back against the possible misunderstanding, "Holy shit, this guy practiced for 20 years and never tried a case what the fuck?"

Regarding yesterday's big WaPo article on how Trump deals with/isn't dealing with Russia.

This story on Trump's Russia paranoia is terrifying - CNNPolitics

"This paragraph -- up high in the Post story -- is a stunner:

"The result is without obvious parallel in US history, a situation in which the personal insecurities of the president -- and his refusal to accept what even many in his administration regard as objective reality -- have impaired the government's response to a national security threat. The repercussions radiate across the government."

Stop. Go back. Read that paragraph again. What it says is this: Trump's insecurity about the nature of his victory (and who should get the credit for it) has made it impossible for the broader government and foreign policy apparatus to properly address the threat posed by Russia.
The ways in which Trump's insecurities have trickled down to how Russia is dealt with by his administration include, according to sources cited in the Post story:
    • He hasn't convened a single Cabinet-level meeting to discuss Russia
    • His Presidential Daily Briefing -- a sort of "where are we now" look at the US and the world -- often has Russia news written down but not delivered orally, for fear of angering him.
    • Trump mistook Fiona Hill, a top Russia adviser at the National Security Council, for a secretary at a meeting. "Trump appeared to mistake Hill for a member of the clerical staff, handing her a memo he had marked up and instructing her to rewrite it," write the Post reporters.
There's much -- much! -- more in the story, but it's all to the same basic point: Trump's obsession with proving that he won fair and square means that he cannot admit that Russia actively aimed to meddle in the election. And his refusal to admit that objective fact has created a series of dangerous ripple effects in the country.
What's terrifying about that willful blind spot is that every single person in a position to know has been unequivocal about the fact that Russia views its 2016 interference as a massive success and predicted that the country will be back in 2018 and 2020 with even more sophisticated meddling efforts.

"It's not a Republican thing or Democratic thing — it really is an American thing," former FBI Director James Comey said of the Russia threat in testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee in June. "They're going to come for whatever party they choose to try and work on behalf of. And they're not devoted to either, in my experience. They're just about their own advantage. And they will be back."

In July, former Director of National Intelligence said that the Russians are "prepping the battlefield" for the 2018 election.

Facing that future interference from an adversarial foreign power, the US is hamstrung to prepare and deal with it because, well, the president wants all the credit for having won last year."

There are plenty of legal people like this "in the pipeline." Both parties have their farm systems. Most judges pick their clerks based on judicial philosophy/political leanings. I guess I'm just surprised there aren't more Bush DOJ people who have spent time in a courtroom available.

I'm confused whenever this comes up.

Did @YankeeFan use "best people"? I've seen it attributed to Trump himself.

Once again we're talking about a D-list reality TV star leaving her insignificant WH post, for the second straight day, instead of the important stuff.
I wouldn't know Omerosa if she was wearing a nametag and standing in front of me.
    Fuck off and go away.

When people worried about Trump making decisions and "having the codes", he downplayed the importance of the President, he wold surround himself with the quality people who would not allow any of these things to happen.

    Totally and completely agree.

This, the first major period of Bible translation into the English language, began with the introduction of the Tyndale Bible. The first complete edition of his New Testament was in 1526. Tyndale used the Greek and Hebrew texts of the New Testament (NT) and Old Testament (OT) in addition to Jerome's Latin translation.

This is hearsay upon hearsay upon hearsay through multiple languages. And the earliest complete version of the gospels are hundred years older or more from the original writings, if there were ever original manuscripts.

The New Testament as literal gospel, an infallible truth, is a complete fraud. That the Torah is the verbatim word of G-d is incomprehensible as truth.

That insignificant WH post paid $179,000 and great benefits and she was one of th highest paid political appointees in government service. A 4star General makes $180,000.

A trial judge should know how to try a case.
