My opinion is that we should enforce the existing immigration laws and change the ones that don't work. Immigration law, like "drug" law, has been historically enforced selectively. Laws should be enforced consistently. In the context of immigration, if you agree there should be rules; the rules should be enforced without concern for liberal guilt or employer loss of profit.

Fine, but that's different from your weird little speech about things being "binary."

But also, not fine, because "rules are rules" are the refuge of morally bankrupt people who don't want to take responsibility for the actions they are advocating. If enforcing the laws means rounding up little girls with disabilities as they leave the hospital and putting them in camps, then change the laws. Nobody says "well, rules are rules, we need to enforce them" unless they actually just like what the rule is doing and don't want it to be changed, but don't have the guts to come out and say it.

No one is saying "well, what can we do? Rules are rules and we need to enforce rules" to all the regulations in place that Trump is bragging about cutting.

Every law is enforced selectively, and has been since our founding. Only totalitarian regimes leave no room for justice and mercy.

Heh. Totalitarian regimes leave the MOST room for justice and mercy, because they are not guided by a standard that, theoretically, needs to be followed. Ask any of the thousands of non-violent offenders serving life sentences under the three-strikes law.

He better accomplish something else in his life, or that scene will be the first line on news stories when he dies.

    In this instance, yes.

Oh, sure, but in other instances, he was a very serious lawmaker, who didn't steer millions of government dollars to billionaire friends.

(BTW, I always love how politicians and billionaires are always casually referred to as "friends" as if they grew up together, and one just happened to become Senate Majority Leader, while the other became a billionaire. These are friendships of convenience.)

(Insert Republican examples of "billionaire friends" here)

    Bipartisan issue for sure.
