Offseason baseball Thread

He'll definitely go at least 8 innings in all postseason starts if he just gets rest over the All Star break.

 

That's what gets me. Why open his yap at all? Just quietly tell the manager you want to pitch on the Saturday or Sunday before the game, do so, then show up Tuesday, tip cap to crowd, and drive home. No muss, no fuss. A pitcher not getting in the game because he pitched the Sunday before happens every year. No one would be the wiser. Now it's gonna be a big deal for him until the damn game happens. Self-inflicted wound by idiocy.

 

Mike Trout appears to be having an OK offseason.

 

It's kinda funny that a guy can be regarded as the very best in the world at what he does, make millions upon millions of dollars, and he still gets satisfaction from letting people know he's with a woman who's got a great ass.

What hasn't been said is that Jeter ordered the fan disembowled and nailed to the left field sculpture when he meeting ended.

 

And then gave him a gift basket.

 

It's unfortunate they had to trade Stanton, but I agree with the moves Jeter has made so far. The team didn't have the talent to contend, so the best course is to do a Cubs/Astros style tear down and rebuild. I hope this thread is still archived when Jeter's Marlins win the World Series in 2022.

 

Nobody is complaining about the rebuild, they're complaining about the value returned. It appears to be a teardown for the sake of a teardown.

 

You’ve seen the size of Stanton’s contract?

 

He's worth something to somebody. Figure you could have gotten a decent prospect or two - or at least a major leaguer whose ultimate value might still have potential upside.
