And, here’s how the media builds a story up. They don’t do their own reporting. One story, based on anonymous sources gets written, and then others write about, basing their stories solely on the previous stories —no actual sources required.

When the House Freedom Caucus gathered Monday night, members spent part of their meeting discussing a theory circulating on Capitol Hill and among the downtown Christmas parties that Ryan may believe he’s harpooned his personal white whale of tax reform and decide he’s finished.

“Is it a Boehner-meeting-the-pope moment?” one Freedom Caucus member rhetorically asked HuffPost, referring to Ryan’s predecessor, John Boehner (R-Ohio), who hosted Pope Francis for a joint address to Congress in September 2015 and then announced his retirement the next morning.

You can call it a “theory” but this is pure rumor mongering. Just keep passing it along.

"Your case" seems to be that you're willing to forgive errors when they're made by a media outlet which you favor ...

If you see an equivalency between Trump's previous statements and the current reporting by the major media, then it doesn’t say much for the major media organizations.
