Sportswriter’s credentials revoked after racial tweet at Duke basketball game

 

I didn't know the dude, but I interacted with him on Twitter often. Usually very funny. This clearly was not one of those times.

 

That was a stupid thing to do. But God help me, the Cheap Trick line made me laugh.

 

It made me laugh, too.

Dude clearly understood the tweets would piss someone off - the preemptive reference to his Korean mother was evidence of that. It was his version of "My best friend is black!"

 

... and I'm going to do roughly the same thing, I imagine.

Because I'm going to preface this by saying Greta's outrage is absolutely valid.

But when you see someone write "My hurt is valid," isn't the first urge to tell them, "No, it's probably not as valid as you think it is if you have to explain it"?

 

According to the N&O, he got the press pass by saying he works for College Insider, which says he hasn't worked for them in years. Story is getting even crazier:

This is what's wrong with today's media. Fanboys gaining access to press row. It happens all over. I'm surprised shit like this doesn't happen more often.

 

"Attaching a photo of her and her friends without their permission?" Since when do you need permission to post a photo of somebody in public?

 

Yeah, I kind of wondered about that myself. She obviously doesn't realize he doesn't need her permission.
