Don't you think that West should have perhaps read some of Coates work to reach this conclusion, which he clearly has not?

You can reach this conclusion (and get some likes from some of the boards biggest morons) and I'll still give it a listen. But West did not come to this conclusion through any kind of serious analysis or understanding of Coates' work.

    Hey now, bubs.

BTW, how do you know West hasn't read Coates? You live with the guy? Peeping through his windows?

I took it as a Joe Morgan - Moneyball dynamic. Sometimes you know. With the limited exposure I've had to both, it wouldn't surprise me. Coates made a far better impression, though considering I'm white might feed into West's accusations.

He admitted in interviews he hadn't read him, and said he didn't need to because he was already aware of what Coates represented.

For all he supposedly hasn’t read, he didn’t do half bad at a critique. (And I have read quite a bit of Coates, though only one piece from the new book.)

Too bad he quit Twitter. He was interesting

If it’s like the Charles P. Pierce-William John Simmons III Twitter slap-and-tickle fight, West will be writing for Coates a week from now.

    A-zing.

Just as so many young black men will follow Obama’s star into policy and public service, many will find in Coates a worthy wordsmith to emulate long after West and his Marxist agenda are lost to the dustbin of history.
