Oh thank you Mr. President, for letting us say something no one stopped us from saying

I just heard Speaker McConnell piously saying on NPR that the GOP has no intent of pushing through cuts on Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security next year. "Entitlement reform is too important to be decided by one party. It won't work out if we do it that way. We'll sit down with our Democratic colleagues and work out the best way to handle that."

Translation: We cut a trillion and a half out of taxes, and we don't want the blame to be solely on us when we cut grandma's health insurance and pension money to pay for it, especially not in an election year. We're going to rub as much of the stench off on the Democrats as they'll allow us to get away with."

I'm sure that the Democratic leadership will buy that.

 

The allegations of the racist text messages are buttressed on the reporter's trust that they did, in fact, come from the officer in question.

 

As opposed to, say, kissing babies?
