I did an engagement ring as a Christmas gift for my wife. Great move. One and done on gifts. And they were even family diamonds. (I did design a new ring and spent plenty having it built, so it wasn't a cheap or exactly easy year. Just a straightforward one.)

A white Christmas here in Colorado. Bright blue skies and cold temps after snow fell a couple nights ago. Spent the day with my sister's family in Boulder. And my parents came out from California. And my maniac dog.

Not as rough of a day as I expected. Thanksgiving was tougher because my sister's family who died three months ago was always here then. For Christmas, they were always down in Baja. Still ... I've had better holidays but my nieces and nephew kept it lively and entertaining.

Hope you all had a great holiday.

Cut between the DVR-saved Christmas Story Live and the Raiders game. The kid who played Ralphie was great and the kid dancers and Jane Krakowsi were fantastic, the kid who played quarterback for the Raiders wasn't.

After multiple travel difficulties, I'm just glad I got back home in one piece.
We went to my in-laws in Ellensburg, Wash. The plan was to get there Friday night. We made it as far as Goldendale, Wash. (about 100 miles) but faced whiteout conditions. We checked the radar and saw no relief in sight. We found a hotel and finished the trip the next day.
On Sunday, I took my brother-in-law to his church. The service was unique. But we also didn't make it. A lady blew a stop sign in her Buick crossover. I laid on the horn and tried to skid to a stop on the compact snow and ice. The Buick lady froze in the middle of the intersection. I was able to turn away just enough to miss her by inches.
Coming back today, I-84 in Oregon was a disaster. Good chunks of the highway hadn't been cleared or salted, nor was there any consistency. You'd be going the speed limit, and suddenly you're on a skating rink. The westbound I was on was terrible, but it looked like eastbound was even worse. What should have been at most a 7 hour trip was 10 hours. But the car's in one piece, so it's all good.
