    It does not cross the continent. No more than a drive from Boise to Anchorage. It crosses national borders, not continents. Mexico is in the continent of North America.

    Upon further reflection, I do see how Tiger interpreted his post, however, since "crossing" does imply from one directional border to its opposite directional border. As a drive from Pensacola to Alabama does indeed "cross" Florida.

    Forgive my imprecision, but as I understand it there’s already a physical barrier at various places along the US-Mexico border. In sum, these places represent about a fourth to a third of the total length of the border. If his extending the wall is such a god-awful idea, why haven’t I heard much clamoring to get rid of the barrier that’s already there?

    There are no true US Continental railroads. You have to connect in Chicago, St. Louis or New Orleans, although BNSF runs as far East as Alabama.
