Hey everybody! My name is Greg and I'm a recently-graduated journalism major from Tennessee (The real UT). This is my first post so I'm looking forward to utilizing this forum and interacting with all of you. Hello Greg. You're about to be swamped by posts telling you to get out of the business while you still can. I would advocate instead that you try your hardest to be great. It's not always easy, but journalism can still be a noble, satisfying profession.

 

Pro tip: Whenever you go on job interviews, make sure you GET A FUCKING HAIRCUT first.

On a serious note, listen to and learn from those who have been in the trenches for a long time; read a lot of good writing and there is no substitute for hard work.
