@YankeeFan, I'm honestly curious as to how you would defend this word salad.

I disagree a little on the gender, most gay people say they always new it. Born that way, day one. There may be instances where people are -lack of better wording--changed to something they were not born, I would say that is a small percentage.
I think there are many situations from a - z that we never thought about. We were always led to believe it was male female, that was it. The old "no other species has homosexuality". I don't know if it's religion that has created this belief about humans. Nothing is 100% not just male/female only. By birth.

He has so little grasp of policy he's not sure what he's supposed to support or oppose.

I should probably clarify that I am referring to word usage here. When you’re referring to someone’s sex, you’re addressing whether that someone is an XY or an XX. When you’re referring to someone’s gender, you’re referring to a much broader, more complex thing than the XX/XY thing.

I can remember a time (I think) when the AP stylebook forbade using gender w.r.t. a person. Gender was used in reference to the masculinity or femininity of words, clothes, etc., but definitely not people.

"You know, another Steve was ousted from the company he started and that turned out pretty well."

"Mr. Bannon, we have other customers. I really don't have time to hear your life's story. I've already turned your three Chocolate XTreme Blizzards upside down. They are sufficiently frozen. Please take them and move away from the counter."
