Ferdinand. Maybe next time I'll take the kids.

I watched it mostly due to my own interest in Arthurian legend, though I'm not the Guy Ritchie fan you are. His style certainly shines through, especially in the action sequences. I thought the movie was okay. Worth the watch on HBO.

"American Made" with Tom Cruise. Looks good, well acted, but not very good overall. The story just didn't do much for me and, when you see how inaccurate it is, it's kind of like, what the hell was the point of watching that? It fails as a true story and as a fiction. I guess I kept waiting for Seal to outsmart everyone. In the end it's just the story of
a drug runner who eventually gets killed for being a drug runner.

    Lady Bird.

All the praise it's received is about 85 percent worthy. Sweet movie that certainly walks in the John Hughes shadow a bit (which is meant as worthy praise). Saoirse was great, but the role wasn't much of a challenge for her. The script was OK, but it could have used a few twists and turns and lacking them meant it was a little all-too-familiar. Laurie Metcalf as her mom was the misstep, IMO.

But, again, it's worth your eyeballs and money.

Caught "All the Money in the World" last week; wow what a job by Christopher Plummer on short notice and Ridley Scott for integrating it so fast!

"Shape of Water" yesterday; simply not my cup of tea. Woman falls in love with Creature from Black Lagoon. Wife enjoyed it. I earned a chit; my highlight. Some good performances, Michael Shannon does hard-ass pretty good; lead is good, as is Richard Jenkins

Disappointed but it had its moments and had good intentions.
I was always waiting for this guy to run a play from the Middle Ages and petition the Pope for succor.
When people talk about how we need to get back to the Obama dream for the country, it tends to be forgotten that Obama's NSA was used to spy on their own people.

Yeah, they really took a lot of liberties with his story and made it almost cartoonish.

The movie didn’t earn its ending in my opinion. Should have ended with her at the airport. The schmaltzy ending seemed to be grafted on to appease audiences. She didn’t love that freaking town, she hated it. To try to flip the script at the end smelled of poop.

    Agreed.
The whole NYC stuff was gratuitous; the alcohol OD scene added nothing to the story and seemed like it was shot for another movie.

Greta was on a podcast I listened to the other day and she was saying how much she hated-loved Sacto as a kid, and the Catholic church and all-girls school she went to, and that was the point of the movie.

You're right -- if she had stuck to the HS part and ended at the airport, it would have been better.

Home with the flu today - 102.5 temp - and finally watched the original “Blade Runner” during a window of only mild misery.

The final villain’s speech is so incredibly moving. I looked into it, and until the night before, it was written to go on far longer. A great example of less-is-more writing.

The Post. Incredible flick. Streep at her best. Hanks is good. Didn’t try to play it as Robards. His accent fails at times. Minor criticism.

Deep cast. Timely to the women’s movement via Kay Graham. Also timely as a reminder of the importance of our free press.

Ethan Hawk and John Travolta. A western that will kill some time.
    Not great. A solid C.
