Bend has gotten unbelievably expensive . That’s where Bay Area refugees go. I’ll be there in 10 years, look me up.

If you want genuine Oregon - head to Hood River. It's up the Columbia, good beer scene, closer to Mt. Hood than Portland, and actually more diverse than Portland. Your traffic into Portland (an hour away) is a lot better than if you were west or south of Portland and 70 percent of the population is under 44.

If I had the coin I would live in New York over Vancouver any day.

Fun fact, Canuckistani division: I have never been anywhere in Canada west of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.

You haven't lived until you've spent some time in Winnipeg in February.

I can see why. Once you get to Soo Ontario, all you can think to do is turn back.

I was born and lived there until July 1962 when we moved to Red Deer, Alberta. I had ‘Peg Tribune and Red Deer Advocate paper routes. Great job for a kid, too bad they don’t exist anymore.
I went back to my old neighbourhood in 2005 on Smithfield Avenue near McGreggor, and was shocked at how far downhill it had slid. The roads, which there were cement pours, had huge cracks and gaping holes and the houses, which had been well maintained, were looking very sad. All the trees had been cut down and nobody looked like they cared about appearances. Drove around the city and looked at some districts and houses where my relatives and parents friends lived and was truly depressed.
Looks like Memphis. No offence to either city.
