Speaking of the word "deign" (from earlier today) ... I may have mentioned (I may also have thought better of mentioning it) a colleague of mine who's an intelligent (not sure whether @RickStain would put him in the "fairly intelligent" category), extensively educated guy who really, really, really, really needs to stop using fancy words because he really, really, really, really can make a mess out of 'em. We were in a confab with a senior colleague once, and he said, to her, "I am going to deign to your judgement" ...

I find it interesting that the one and only party of family values is revolting against immigration policies designed to keep families together or to reunite them.
