Dude it was a bush league hit and his shoulder clearly strikes Kempe's head.

Go on Facebook and search for Anaheim Ducks stuff. There are dozens and dozens of posts, a petition signup, people threatening to cancel season tickets because of the way the league treats the team, inequitable penalties, etc.
People were really looking forward to honoring this guy for this achievement of never having missed a game since he came in as a rookie. Another year and a half would have put him there.

You've seen the same videos I have. I don't think he got him in the head.

It’s really late for one, and from what I see, the principle point of contact is the head with Cogliano’s shoulder.

You never know with nhl discipline but I think it was suspension worthy. Those are the hits that need to go imo.

Fans of all teams are ridiculous. Ask other teams in the Pacific and they think Anaheim gets away with murder.

That's not shoulder into a chest, that's a hit to the head. He should have been tossed for how late the hit came. Serve the suspension and move on. He earned it.

It’s more than a second after he gives up the puck. That is reallly, really late.

The head shot is clear, what am I missing?

This is what got Cogliano...Pat Maroon's two-gamer for a similar elbow to Drew Doughty

    Thanks for the responses.
It was definitely late, no question there. Cogliano was called for an interference penalty. You are not going to convince me that it was a head shot. Shoulder to chest, head snapped back because of the chest impact. Cogliano didn't jump to hit Kempe.
I purposely presented this to be about THIS incident, nothing else. If you try to compare rulings by the safety group you will go insane.
Oh well, what's done is done.

You won’t be convinced because you don’t want to be convinced. It’s a blatant head shot. It’s shoulder to chin, I could be wrong but I haven’t seen an non Duck fan disagree with this.

Damn, I really tried to be objective on this one. I've looked at the video 20 times and all I see is a late hit to the chest. Others are saying that Kempe brought up his stick to try to ward off Cogliano and his own stick hit him in the face. In the screen grab Elliotte posted here, I see the patch on the top of Cogliano's shoulder well below Kempe's chin. The elbow and upper arm are below that.
I'm probably trying to analyze this too much, but isn't that what the player safety people are supposed to do before handing out suspensions.
Just to be honest, I've digested what you said above and probably agree.
