I've run two half marathons. I didn't finish either thinking, I'd sure like to do that again right now.

After my first two or three half marathons, I couldn't shake the feeling that I'd only done "half" of something. Because my brain is broken like that, I had to do at least one full. The second one was for charity.

Also, Aziz sexually assaulted that girl.

EDIT: This is also a joke.

If a man "guides an woman's hand to his dick" once, and she pulls away, is it sexual assault?

See, if it's eight times, we've got an argument here. Hell of it's one time and it's on the subway, we've got sexual assault for sure. But how about one time? This is were the argument is difficult.

"Hey, would you like to touch my- oh, ok, nope. Guess not. Wow. So Sorry! Ok, well I agree, I guess I should turn myself into the police and go to prison. Crap. The stakes are very high but this is the only way to make sex good again, alas."

Did Aziz Ansari commit a crime? If we agree he did, why not prosecute him? I would imagine the criminal statue is murky on what is specifically required in order to charge someone with sexual assault, and I doubt "sexual misconduct" is part of the criminal code.

    What do we do?

The answer to my question is no, but you went there anyway.

It was five to seven times here.

One reason we don't prosecute is because there is another side we haven't heard - his. And it's likely to be quite different than hers.

It's too difficult of a case to prove. But in a vacuum, assuming away any counter-story introduced by him, it almost certainly qualifies as sexual assault. No less than Trump's did, I think.

    Oral sex for sure.

Don't have sex outside marriage, perhaps. That's a pretty solid way to avoid these situations.

Just once on a date after other sexual acts had been engaged in? No, not sexual assault. I chalk that up to misreading the situation.

During my reporter days, I once went on a couple of dates with a rather cute freelance photographer (I don't know why this detail is relevant. I'm a story-teller, dammit). After the second date, we wound up making out on my couch. My hand moved for her breasts, and she pushed it away. I did not try again. I misread the situation, but she made it clear she wasn't comfortable with doing anything beyond what we were presently doing.

But the girl in the Aziz case claims he did it 5-7 times. Also, some shit about him forcing his fingers down her throat. If we are taking what she claims as truth, she made it clear what she was comfortable with and he repeatedly tried to physically force her past that. To me, that is sexual assault.

As for whether he should be prosecuted, I have no idea. That is thankfully not up to me.

I'd love to see a counter-factual in which the same story appeared, except the antagonist was not named Aziz Ansari. He was named, say, Eric Trump.

Think the reaction out there might be different?
